Viti – Dandu Selection tournament

E1E1 encourages rural sports

Did you know Viti - Dandu is played at a national level? There are teams representing every state. Viti - Dandu is slowly getting recognition though it is one of the oldest games played in Maharashtra. This game has been played since the days of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is mostly popular in rural areas.

Viti - Dandu Palghar District Tournament aims to encourage this sport at the rural-level. From this tournament, the team to represent Palghar district will be selected, this team will be sent to participate in the State level tournament. All students above 16 years of age are invited to participate in this selection tournament. At the national level, this sport has been now formalised with proper rules like Kabaddi.

Nutan Bal Shikshan Sangh (NBSS) is co-sponsoring this tournament with Palghar District Association. Sixteen teams (men) and 8 teams (ladies) are expected to participate in this event. The event will be held in Dahanu in mid-November.

EachOneEnrichOne while implementing Project Vidya at the grass-root level experienced that the rural kids struggled with self-confidence and various skills. We realised that imparting knowledge is not sufficient to bring them out of their shell. Hence, we have taken in on us to help these kids in the development of mental health and physical fitness of the body which will empower them with life skills, learn time management and discipline, improve team building and leadership qualities, boost their self-confidence and improve their overall personality.
